Best Casio Calculator for SSC, HSC & University

Choosing a scientific calculator is one of the first things students do before SSC, HSC or university — and the model you pick will stay with you for years. Casio's fx series is the standard in Bangladesh. This guide explains the differences between the main models in plain language, with current prices at Casio Bangladesh.

Always check the latest rules from your education board, school or university before an exam. All the models below are non-programmable scientific calculators.

Quick picks

fx-991CW (ClassWiz) — the newest

The fx-991CW is Casio's latest generation. It has a high-resolution display, a menu system that is quicker to learn and natural textbook display, so fractions, roots and integrals look the way they do in your book.

  • Equations, inequalities, matrices, vectors, complex numbers, statistics, distributions, tables and spreadsheet mode.
  • Solar plus battery power.
  • Best for: HSC science students who want the newest model, and university students in engineering, science and economics.

fx-991ES PLUS 2nd edition — the HSC favourite

For years this has been the calculator most HSC science students in Bangladesh carry. It has natural textbook display and around 400+ functions — integration, differentiation, equation solving, matrices, vectors and statistics.

  • Proven, reliable and widely used by teachers, so it is easy to get help.
  • Also available in pink: fx-991ES PLUS pink (৳2,249).
  • Best for: HSC science and first-year university.

fx-991MS 2nd edition — the classic

The MS models use a two-line display: you type the expression on one line and see the answer on the other. It is fast and simple, but fractions and roots do not appear in textbook form.

  • Equation solving, complex numbers, integration and statistics.
  • Best for: students who prefer the classic layout or want to save money.

fx-82 and fx-570 — for SSC and basic needs

  • The fx-82ES PLUS (৳1,400) has natural textbook display and covers the SSC syllabus comfortably.
  • The fx-82MS (৳1,200) is the most affordable option with the classic two-line display.
  • The fx-570MS (৳1,750) and fx-570ES PLUS (৳2,000) sit between the fx-82 and fx-991, with more functions than the fx-82.

Which one should you buy?

  • Only need it for SSC: fx-82ES PLUS or fx-82MS.
  • SSC now and HSC later: buy the fx-991ES PLUS once and keep it.
  • HSC science or university: fx-991CW or fx-991ES PLUS.
  • Tight budget for HSC: fx-991MS or fx-570MS.

How to spot a fake Casio calculator

Fake calculators are very common. Check the printing on the keys (it should be sharp and even), the solar panel, the model number and serial on the back, and run a few calculations to make sure the results are correct. At Casio Bangladesh you pay cash on delivery after checking.
