Casio Water Resistance Explained + Care Tips
1 October 2026

The water-resistance mark on your Casio's dial or case back tells you what the watch can handle. It is not a depth you can dive to — it is a pressure rating. Getting it right is the easiest way to keep your watch working for years.
What the markings mean
- WATER RESIST (no number): everyday use only — rain, splashes and washing your hands. Do not swim, shower or bathe with it. Examples: F-91W, A158WA, most Enticer dress watches such as the MTP-V002D.
- 50M / 5 BAR: swimming in a pool and light water activities. No diving and no hot showers. Examples: MTP-E735D, AMW-880D.
- 100M / 10 BAR: swimming, snorkelling and water sports. Examples: W-800H, most EDIFICE models such as the EFV-100D.
- 200M / 20 BAR: demanding water sports and recreational diving (not scuba below the rated limits). Typical for G-SHOCK, such as the DW-5600E.
7 rules that keep water out
- Never press buttons under water (unless the watch is a diver's model designed for it). Pressing a button can let water in.
- Avoid hot water. Hot showers, baths and saunas expand the gaskets and seals and can cause leaks or fog inside the glass.
- Rinse after the sea or pool. Salt and chlorine damage seals and bracelets. Rinse in fresh water and dry with a soft cloth.
- Keep the crown pushed in (or screwed down, if it is a screw-down crown).
- No sudden temperature changes — for example, from a cold air-conditioned room straight into hot sun and water.
- Have the seals checked when the battery is changed. Gaskets age over time.
- If you see fog inside the glass, stop using it in water and bring it for service quickly.
Battery tips
- Most Casio quartz watches run 2–10 years on one battery. Solar models (Tough Solar) charge from light — keep them near a window now and then.
- When the battery runs low, replace it soon. A flat battery left inside can leak.
- Have the battery changed at a proper watch shop so the case back is resealed correctly. Battery replacement is not covered by our warranty.
Strap and bracelet care
- Resin straps (G-SHOCK, Vintage, Youth): wash with mild soap and water, dry well. Avoid perfume and strong chemicals.
- Stainless steel bracelets (EDIFICE, Enticer, A158): brush gently with a soft toothbrush and soapy water, rinse and dry.
- Leather straps: keep away from water and sweat as much as possible; leather is not water resistant even if the watch is.
বাংলায় সংক্ষেপে
- WATER RESIST:
